Hellooooooo reader, we are LIVE! And that means a lot to me!

Let's start with a bit of an introduction. My name is Jackie Stickney, (often J.Stickney for short), and I do a lot of things. I write, paint, draw, and generally create useful stuff. I grew up for most of my life in southern New Hampshire, reared with a deep love of reading and creative arts. I currently live in the central part of Florida (where, oddly enough, I have not experienced one hurricane. Almost disappointing-- almost.) After graduating high school, I decided to pursue my true loves- telling as many stories as I can. I love animation, cinema, sequential art, and literature, as well as science and technology. Not only do I love telling my own ideas in new ways, but analyzing others as well.

Naturally, as a young person on the internet, I am familiar with anime, manga, and other japanese studies. (It used to be my goal to go there and get a job and then I... quickly changed my mind when I actually looked into it.  I think I can do just fine here.)

Anyways, how about recent acheivements and goals? I've got two working manuscripts in the process of finishing themselves... (>.>), and plenty of ideas for independent comics, as well as a couple of syndication ideas. Still, I'm waiting to dive into that until after school, when I have something solid to stand on.

Speaking of school, My current aspiration is to study illustration and sequential art at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I think it's well-supplied and in a sweet environment, and I'm really eager to check out the classes (if I had my way, I'd take all of them, and that's no joke.) I'm glad they embrace commerical narratives like comics, because if there's one thing better than making solid quality material, it's making solid quality material that people support long enough to make more. I also think their illustration department offers a strong, marketable program that focuses on versatility and strength, two critical qualifiers in any art world.

After that, I plan on living for a long time- I'd like to step into teaching, or perhaps working at a production studio for a while. Although that means moving out to either California or Vancouver, which is a decision that shall come... later.

So, my current list of goals is:
Getting into SCAD (and succeeding in classes!)
Finishing my two manuscripts (tentatively titled Libre and Be Human)
Churn out some short, one-issue comics (because I keep too much stuff to myself)
Work on My Little Philosophy (secret!)

And most importantly, use my superpowers for good and not evil.

I don't mind if people ask about my progress on projects,  (actually, as of this moment I rather need it...) , so feel free to contact me at any of the many places listed (you can even use a form directly on this website to send messages straight to my e-mail,) and just start talking!

If you want to find out some more about my specific areas of interest, feel free to visit the links in the MORE tab. You'll find links to my writing site, my arts site, and... that should be about it for now. (it's a bit of a trip building three websites at once, but- hey- it's good experience, at least.
